To Promote Organ Donation and show just how good life can be after undergoing a transplant?
If it were not for the heart I received on April 3rd, 2006 at Stanford Hospital, California, I wouldn’t be here today.
Figures show that approximately 5500 people in the UK are waiting for organ donors that could save or dramatically improve their life, but only 3000 organ transplants are carried out each year. There is a desperate need for more donors. Currently, more than 90,000 people in the United States are awaiting the life saving gift that organ donation can provide. Every day, 20 people who are on the waiting list die. We have the cure for this human crisis, but there are not enough registered donors worldwide.
The aim of this site is to highlight people who have had a transplant or awaiting a suitable donor both young and old that life doesn’t have to stop. I was an 18-year-old successful student and athlete who underwent a heart transplant.
